    Steel down 35% this week

Steel took a dump by me this week at my best yard, down $60 ton this week.
    Monday 1/19/15 $170 shred/$200 unprepared
    Tuesday 1/20 $140 shred/$170 unprepared
    Thursday 1/22 $110 shred/$140 unprepared
    OUCH !!!!!
Just when I have a part time guy that actually shows up. Now I can get the work done but won't be able to afford him.

Wow! I wish prices were that good here. I called the yard in Sioux Falls yesterday and they said they were paying $90/ton for tin/shred. I took a load in this morning and they had dropped their price down to just $60/ton overnight. That hurt. They are the closest yard to me and it is a 50 mile drive. It barely paid for the gas.

the local yards in Southern Maryland are parked at 100 ton and the rumor is dropping again this week to somewhere between 80 to 90.
Just sitting on steel trying to get caught up with processing.
Lots of stuff to breakdown and we'll see where scrap is headed to. Maybe I'll be able to pick up a sweet used wire stripper as everyone is bailing. Well except for a couple of local guys who are still paying big prices for stuff to scrap.

Price up by $10 ton today to: $120 sheet /$150 unprepared.
Good news is aluminum didn't drop so I will be concentrating on that this week.
    Aluminum:
    old sheet : $.53
    siding $.60
    extrusion $.71
    cast $.53
    breakage 50% $.18 to $.25 for 250# or more.

Called my normal yard: Still at $180/ton
Called the yard that "Normal Yard" Feeds too (Mama Bear) =$140/TON

I hustled and loaded all my steel and drove it down to $180/ton yard.. because if Mama Bear has dropped to $140.. the feeder yard just hasn't caught up yet.
